The Third Annual Pediatric Cancer Awareness Walk led by ‘Baby Shawn’ Kennedy was held on Saturday September 1st, 2018, at the Niagara Falls State Park.

More than a hundred people attended the event and, as of the following morning, organizers found themselves Five Hundred Dollars short of their $20,000 goal.

Upon hearing how close the event came to meeting their goal, local Niagara Falls Attorney and School Board President Robert Restaino called and offered to provide the difference.

Clearly ecstatic for reaching their goal, Mike Esposito asked what they possibly could do to thank him. Restiano, without thinking, said, “I saw in your Facebook video that Shawn likes to shoot hoops. Although I am far too old to move around like he does anymore, I’d love to see if he can make a three point shot.”

“I think we can make that happen,” said Esposito.

Within two days Restaino met ‘Baby Shawn,’ shook his hand and told his mother, Nicole Vathy, what a special boy he is. “I wish we could all have the strength and energy that Shawn has,” said Restaino.
