Niagara Falls City Council Chairman Andrew Touma reports lawmakers have approved a charter amendment allowing for the mayor to Include a garbage user fee in the 2020 budget. The fee of $181 per residential tote was approved by a 3-2 bipartisan vote with Republican Kenny Thomkins voting yes along with Chairman Touma and Bill Kennedy, both Democrats.

In other action, lawmakers reduced the $9 million casino cash transfer through cuts and concessions to the outgoing mayor’s proposed budget. Touma said no amendments were offered to the user fee amendment that was voted against by Republican Chris Voccio and Democrat Ezra Scott.
